Bringing experience to charity

Sushila is a mother of 2 in her early forties, who recently changed careers from senior corporate management to running her own business as a personal development trainer. She is also now a trustee at Birmingham Focus on Blindness.

"We help enhance the quality of life of those with sight impairment. As trustees we have to ensure that our limited finances are spent properly and I love the leadership responsibility. Helping the charity to grow is a real challenge, and a delight.”

Using her career experience, Sushila has been coaching senior managers at the charity. She has been inspired by the welcome the charity has given her and the passion that they have to make a big difference.

"They recruited me because of the specific skills I could offer. We’re now looking to recruit a volunteer treasurer."
